An English teacher spent a lot of time marking grammatical errors in her students` written work.
She was not sure how much impact she was having until one overly busy day when she sat at her desk rubbing her temples.
A student asked, “What`s the matter, Mrs.Sheridan?”
“Tense,” she replied, describing her emotional state.
After a slight pause the student tried again, “What was the matter? What has been the matter? What might have been the matter…?
At the end of last semester,
a fellow student complained about how he failed the English course.
The teacher invited him to write a formal letter of complaint to the principal.
I glanced at his letter to see how it was going.
His first sentence read, “Dear Principle, it is infair and unposible that I faled english.”
One day, I asked my English teacher,
“Why do we ignore some letters in pronunciation eg. the letter H …in Hour, Honour. …etc. ???”
My English teacher said, “We are not ignoring them; they’re considered silent “……. (I was even more confused???)
During the lunch break, my teacher gave me her packed lunch and asked me to heat it in the cafeteria.
I ate all the food and returned her the empty container…!!!
My English teacher: “What happened? I told you to go and HEAT my food, you are returning me an empty container.”
I replied, “Sir, I thought ‘H’ was silent.”
